FirstPromoter vs Post Affiliate Pro: comparison of affiliate software pricing, commission rules and affiliate management

FirstPromoter vs Post Affiliate Pro: Pricing, Commission Rules and Affiliate Management Compared

Compare FirstPromoter and Post Affiliate Pro on subscription tracking, plan limits and payouts, including the costs of advanced commission features.

FirstPromoter is the more accessible starting point for a subscription business that wants rewards tied to its billing provider. Post Affiliate Pro accommodates a wider variety of commission arrangements and offers a separate Network plan for multiple merchants. Its more advanced features can require Ultimate, so the $139 Pro subscription is not the right baseline for every comparison.

The two products also charge for growth differently. FirstPromoter uses monthly affiliate revenue to determine the plan tier. Post Affiliate Pro allocates tracking requests, which include more than completed sales. A useful evaluation starts with the events the business needs to reward and the volume it expects to record.

What are the main differences?

FirstPromoter combines subscription reward settings with unlimited team access across its plans. Post Affiliate Pro provides unlimited affiliates on all listed plans, but multiple administrators and its recurring commission feature start on Ultimate.

A separate website workspace and a separate merchant account solve different administrative problems. A business comparing network software should inspect merchant permissions and account funding rather than treating the number of campaigns as a substitute.

How do the subscription prices compare?

FirstPromoter is less expensive at the published entry level. Post Affiliate Pro offers larger tracking allowances as the plan increases, with additional charges for some features.

FirstPromoter’s public plans use the following prices and revenue bands.

FirstPromoter planMonthly billingAnnual subscriptionMonthly affiliate revenue
Starter$49$490Up to $5,000
Business$99$990Up to $15,000
EnterpriseFrom $149From $1,490Above $15,000; higher tiers apply

All plans include a 14-day trial. Revenue above a plan’s allowance moves the account to the next tier. The complete schedule of higher Enterprise prices is not public, so the Enterprise starting price does not establish the cost of a high-revenue program.

Post Affiliate Pro’s pricing table lists four options.

Post Affiliate Pro planMonthly billingMonthly equivalent, billed annuallyMonthly tracking requestsAdditional 10,000 requests
Starter, availability unconfirmed$89$7910,000$5
Pro$139$1291 million$1
Ultimate$269$2496 million$0.40
Network$649$59920 million$0.20

The Starter offer still specifies May through July 2026. Although the vendor continues to display it, availability for a new subscription in October is unconfirmed. Pro is therefore the clearer published starting point for a purchase evaluation until the vendor confirms Starter. Post Affiliate Pro advertises a 30-day trial.

Tracking requests count recorded impressions and events as well as clicks and sales. They are not equivalent to FirstPromoter’s revenue metric or to a simple conversion allowance.

Which additional costs belong in the budget?

Post Affiliate Pro publishes feature add-ons as well as request overages. FirstPromoter’s main subscription uncertainty concerns the applicable Enterprise tier and eligibility for its managed payment service.

The Post Affiliate Pro pricing matrix lists these optional charges. Starter entries remain subject to the availability issue above.

Post Affiliate Pro add-onPlans with a published additional chargeMonthly charge
Multiple currenciesStarter$19
GeoIPStarter$9
Commission groupsStarter$19
Lifetime referrals managerPro$9
Membership subscription managerPro and Ultimate$9
Audit logStarter, Pro and Ultimate$17
SmartlinksStarter, Pro and Ultimate$19
Branding removalUltimate$27

These are charges for the listed plans, not a statement that every other plan includes every feature. For example, the pricing matrix does not list branding removal as available on Pro.

A program using Ultimate with 11 million monthly tracking requests would pay $469 on monthly billing before add-ons: the $269 subscription plus $200 for five million requests above the included allowance. Ultimate with branding removal would instead start at $296 before request overages.

For FirstPromoter, a business generating $12,000 in monthly affiliate revenue fits the $99 Business revenue band. Once affiliate revenue exceeds $15,000, obtain the relevant Enterprise price before comparing it with Ultimate. Payment-provider fees and affiliate commissions remain separate from these software examples.

Which platform gives more control over subscription rewards?

FirstPromoter has explicit settings for the number of months or payments that earn commission. Post Affiliate Pro offers scheduled or payment-triggered recurring commissions through a feature available on Ultimate and Network.

FirstPromoter’s recurring commission settings support fixed or percentage rewards. A business can pay throughout the customer’s lifetime, stop after a chosen number of months or limit rewards by charge count. A second rate can take effect after the first period or charge.

Post Affiliate Pro’s recurring feature can generate commissions on a schedule after the initial payment. Alternatively, its payment-triggered mode waits for a notification tied to the subscription before creating each recurring reward.

The scheduled mode needs a reliable way to stop commission generation when the customer stops paying. The payment-triggered mode depends on the billing integration sending the relevant notifications. This distinction affects the implementation even when both modes appear under the same recurring-commission label.

Can the commission structure extend beyond subscriptions?

Post Affiliate Pro is a relevant option when the business needs specialized commission arrangements across different types of activity. FirstPromoter organizes partner terms through campaigns and individual reward overrides, which suits businesses negotiating different acquisition or renewal rewards.

Post Affiliate Pro’s feature matrix includes per-click and per-sale commissions, with action-based rewards and product-specific rules. Split commissions and performance rewards are among the features reserved for Ultimate and Network.

FirstPromoter’s campaign guide explains that one promoter can participate in multiple campaigns. Each can have its own reward structure and affiliate-facing experience. For a few partners with negotiated rates, individual overrides may avoid the need for another campaign.

What can partners see under the business’s own brand?

FirstPromoter offers a custom dashboard domain from Business, while full white-labeling requires Enterprise. Post Affiliate Pro lists branding removal as a $27 monthly Ultimate add-on and includes it on Network. A custom-looking dashboard should therefore be distinguished from removing the platform’s branding.

FirstPromoter’s campaigns can have different signup pages and email sets. Post Affiliate Pro provides customizable interfaces and themes, together with a public affiliate program directory where publishers can browse opportunities. A directory is a discovery channel; its existence does not establish a commitment to recruit partners for the business.

How do integrations affect the choice?

FirstPromoter is a practical fit when a supported subscription billing provider contains the events that should generate rewards. Post Affiliate Pro documents a broad range of payment and storefront connections, with implementation methods that vary by system.

The FirstPromoter integration catalog includes Stripe and Paddle. Its plan documentation also lists Chargebee, Recurly and Braintree, alongside APIs and webhooks for custom workflows.

Post Affiliate Pro’s integration documentation describes Stripe webhook tracking, PayPal IPN and subscription connections such as Chargebee and Recurly. Storefront implementations may use an app or JavaScript; other systems use an API or payment notification.

A listed integration does not make every configuration identical. The implementation needs to retain the affiliate relationship when the customer renews, and to handle the events used to reverse or adjust commissions. Test those cases with the exact checkout and billing setup before approving the integration.

Who handles affiliate payments?

FirstPromoter offers more directly documented payment routes inside its payout workflow. Post Affiliate Pro’s mass-payment feature prepares configurable files for processing through a bank or payment service.

Under FirstPromoter’s payout documentation, Stripe Connect can transfer funds to connected affiliate accounts. Direct one-click PayPal payments require Business or higher, an eligible PayPal Business account and Payouts API access. External payments can also be recorded after processing.

The FirstPromoter managed service requires Enterprise 2 or above and approval of a SaaS business. FirstPromoter collects funds through an invoice and distributes the payouts through Dots. The guide specifies one batch per month and seven to ten days after receiving the funds. It currently lists no additional merchant service fee; affiliate withdrawal fees apply.

Post Affiliate Pro lets a merchant define payment methods and export formats. The business selects the affiliates to pay and downloads a mass-payment file. Processing that file through the payment provider remains a separate step.

This difference is relevant to a finance team deciding whether to retain control of bank-file processing or qualify for a service that distributes payments on its behalf. The subscription price alone does not answer that question.

How useful are the reports and AI connections?

FirstPromoter reports emphasize campaign and customer-referral performance. Post Affiliate Pro’s trends report includes traffic and commission measures that can help evaluate more varied payment models.

FirstPromoter’s reporting documentation specifies three-minute updates for overview and campaign reports. Promoter performance updates daily at midnight; traffic-source and landing-page reports update daily. CSV and JSON exports are available.

Post Affiliate Pro’s trends report can filter by date or transaction status, as well as campaign or affiliate. It includes impression and click measures alongside sales and commissions. A team paying for activity other than purchases can use those measures to assess the relationship between traffic costs and sales.

Both products now document MCP connections. The FirstPromoter server is experimental, requires approval for changes and excludes payouts, invoices and commission creation. Post Affiliate Pro’s Q3 2026 release provides read-only or read/write permissions and tools covering commissions, including refunds and chargebacks. Access should match the tasks the assistant is expected to perform.

How do fraud controls differ?

FirstPromoter documents self-referral and paid-ad checks. Post Affiliate Pro gives administrators rules for duplicate orders and repeated or blocked IP activity. These controls address specific patterns rather than establishing that one product detects all fraud more accurately.

FirstPromoter’s settings flag matching affiliate and customer email or IP details. Larger rewards can be held for manual approval, and the system identifies referrals associated with paid advertising channels.

Post Affiliate Pro’s fraud controls can recognize repeated order IDs and decline or omit commissions linked to prohibited IP addresses. Country-based controls depend on GeoIP. The relevant rules need configuration for the program’s permitted traffic sources.

What can be migrated from another platform?

Post Affiliate Pro documents imports for affiliates and commissions, making it worth examining when preserving existing records is a priority. FirstPromoter provides a specific Stripe history workflow, but that does not establish a complete import of every dataset from a previous affiliate platform.

The Post Affiliate Pro transaction import accepts correctly formatted CSV data and can create or update commission records. Existing exports need mapping to the expected fields and statuses. Its professional migration service evaluates the source system and requested data before confirming what can be transferred.

FirstPromoter’s referral creation guide allows past Stripe sales to be imported for a specified customer and corresponding commissions generated. Reconcile amounts already paid before doing this, since importing historical charges can create commission records.

For either product, confirm which links and customer relationships will survive the move. Importing an affiliate’s contact record is not proof that their existing links or renewal attribution will continue working.

When is Trackdesk a stronger alternative?

Trackdesk becomes relevant when the business wants recurring rewards and growth capacity without affiliate-revenue bands or standard request overages. Its program pricing lists uncapped affiliates, clicks and conversions; more than 20 million monthly clicks may require private infrastructure.

Trackdesk planMonthly billingMonthly equivalent with annual billing
Business$399$299
Enterprise$599$499
Enterprise PLUSFrom $1,199From $1,199; final terms quoted

Business includes five seats and ten active offers. Enterprise includes fully managed migration and removes those two limits. Enterprise PLUS provides custom development and private infrastructure. Recurring rewards can be configured for a limited number of events or ongoing conversions.

FirstPromoter is attractive for a smaller subscription program whose revenue fits a lower tier. Post Affiliate Pro suits businesses that need its specialized commission features or separate merchant accounts. Trackdesk offers a compelling alternative for a growing program that prioritizes uncapped tracking and a defined migration service over the lowest initial subscription price.
